Dr Matthew Raphael Johnson presents a revisionist history of the Vietnam war, showing that it was the US own aid to Vietnam, that was funding the insurgency. Like everything, the level of disinformation on the War in Vietnam has reached crisis proportions. As the US military are venerated like gods in the US so long as the war is against nationalists, when the war is with communists, suddenly they're “baby killers.” Yet, name calling isn't the end. The US lost the war due to deliberate incompetence, ideological myopia and an institutionalized lack of will. In all wars against the Reds, the good guys were disorganized while the communists were tightly bound together into one totalitarian unit. The war against the French helped create this, and the errors of the French in Indochina were ignored by the US military. The level of arrogance in the US officer corps was staggering. What the South lacked in unified leadership was shown it’s mirror image in the North. US aid was never meant to create a self sufficient ally, but a dependent satrapy. Therefore, Nixon's Vietnamization program was almost comically absurd, since there was no foundation for it. Once US aid was pulled in 1972 to 1973, the southern army, the ARVN, was chronically short of fuel and ammunition. The real tragedy was that the South could have been turned into another South Korea. The US alienated all its allies in its overbearing and insufferable arrogance, leading to the mass pull out of the Korean forces and Thai regulars by 1970, long before the American pull out. Millions of Vietnamese died after 1973 because of “American exceptionalism.” There is a real, human cost to stupidity. Presented by Matt Johnson The Orthodox Nationalist: The Vietnam War – TON 041719
