Sven Longshanks looks at the unprecedented censorship that this bill will likely produce.
The UK Online Harms Bill was finally published last week and Reclaim the Net have a good summary of it.
It seeks to censor ‘legal but harmful’ speech by punishing tech firms and creating new offences around the term ‘harm’.
‘Harm’ is defined as psychological harm and just a risk of it, is to be treated in the same way.
It also creates a ‘false communications’ offence which will likely be used to go after anyone questioning the mainstream narrative.
The BBC and other mainstream outlets are of course exempt from all of this, being the current year equivalent of ‘The Ministry of Truth’.
