Sven Longshanks narrates EJ Glave’s observations on the internal slave trade in Africa.
This was published in 1890 and shows the horrendous way some African tribes treated others.
It shows that the biggest problem with ending slavery, was stopping the African tribes from doing it.
An argument could also be made, that White explorers could have seen the Transatlantic slave trade as some sort of relief for the captives, as by purchasing them and transplanting them to America, they were brought into a far more humane form of slavery than their own.
This was originally published in ‘The Century’ by one of the famous explorer Morgan Stanley’s pioneer officers.
