Dr Matthew Raphael Johnson looks at the meaning of freedom, justice and action.
This is the conclusion of the difficult but rewarding philosophy of Semyon Frank, a Russian Jew and Leftist who converted to Tradition and the Orthodox Church in 1912.
In this broadcast lecture, the foundation and metaphysical basis of justice, action and freedom is discussed in philosophical terms.
Freedom is not the “libertarian” free will which is based only on the will itself, but is rather the discovery of one's place in the order of society, which in turn, is based on the hierarchical order of nature.
Terms such as “justice” and “freedom” must have a foundation in the natural order to be real. How are these understood? How can liberalism be intellectually vanquished? How do we avoid arguing on liberalism's own terms?
