Today's Orthodox Nationalist deals with the origin of the White-Cossack Army against the Reds as the Civil War began. From February to April of 1918, the Volunteer Army was formed in blood: marching from Rostov to the steppes of the Kuban region in the bitter cold, fighting every step of the way, defeating Red forces many times larger than themselves. This march created the standard of resistance of Russia against the Red Menace. General Kornilov, killed in the midst of this march, was rightly celebrated for his tactical skill, using almost nothing against a well-supplied but undisciplined enemy.
